The show

We all wrote embarrassing stuff when we were younger. The premise of “The Mortified Podcast” is how many brave souls would be willing to share those poems, diaries and letters in front of a live audience. Perhaps surprisingly, the answer is “a lot.” This podcast may make you nostalgic for the naiveté of childhood, or it might make you cringe so hard you break a rib. Either way, you’ll probably laugh a lot.

The episode

You can hop into the show anywhere, but my personal favorite episode is #36, “Love, America Online Style.” In it, a man named Tyler reads from the “more than 300 pages” of AOL Instant Messenger chats he conducted with his high school crush, Janelle. And here’s the best part: The real Janelle joins him on stage to re-enact her “lines.” And then he cracks open his public online diary.

How to listen

You can stream “The Mortified Podcast” on its website, or subscribe on Apple Podcasts.
